What a Great Birthday!!

Last year was a big birthday for me...the Big 4-0. This year was just another year. So why was this year my favorite birthday in a long time?! Because my wonderful husband and children made a huge effort to make me feel special. And it worked!

Meggie sent me to bed on Tuesday evening with strict instructions not to come back downstairs. Not a problem...I was fast asleep in minutes. I figured she was hand-making a sign or birthday card for me. While she did that (and placed the sign on the mirror in my bathroom so I would find it in the morning), that was just to throw me off the REAL surprise.

I should have known something was up when Meggie hopped out of bed so easily yesterday morning and followed me downstairs. Then she lingered in the kitchen while I packed up my bag for work and gathered my lunch. I should have known...

I opened the door to the garage and was greeted with this...
...which led me to this...
...then as I headed to the driver's door, I saw this on the side window...
...and this on the driver's window!
(There was also a curtain of streamers obstructing the window and streamers wrapped around the steering wheel. Obviously those had to be removed so I could make it safely to work.)

On the passenger side of the van, I saw this...

While she and I howled with laughter at my reaction to her "surprise," I have to admit it was a BIT embarrassing driving in rush hour traffic announcing to the world that I had gotten a year older. (More funny than embarrassing, but embarrassing nonetheless...)

Ahhhhh, YEAH!!

After working all day at the hospital, then heading to Church for dinner with the family and choir rehearsal (big Christmas concert on Sunday evening!), I arrived home to find this...
...which had been baked and decorated by this...
...wonderful husband of mine! (He even took a half-day of vacation to bake the cake for me!) It was a recipe he found on his own and it was my favorite...Black Forest Cherry!! Yummy!!!!!!! Before we enjoyed the cake, we (of course) had to take a few pics...
...until Carson took a turn...
...and Molly did as well.
