Isn't Christmas Over by December 31st?

Not at our house...not when Christmas slipped away and we never got around to decorating our gingerbread house! This was a special event at our house...it was a first for all THREE kids!!

On New Year's Eve, after eating dinner and before attempting to play Twister with the Littles (big mistake, by the way -- led to tears!), Meggie gathered the supplies and got them started. Kids, are you excited?

Whoa, while the Littles look thrilled, Meggie looks...well, she looks angry! Everything OK, Teenager?
Ahhh, that's better! Such a good big sister, isn't she?! Carson and Molly worked very well together, being patient and taking turns...
...and Meggie did her best not to let their unsteady hands and odd sense of decorating style drive her crazy! Molly kept picking the blue candies...
...and was so proud of herself that she is learning her colors. Carson, are you proud of her?
Let me translate that look for you. Carson is asking, "Huh? Why would I care?" What a supportive big brother...NOT!

Carson insisted that he and Molly could handle the icing duties to decorate the gingerbread people...
...and we had to admit they did a pretty decent job. (They also made a pretty decent mess, but that's another story.)

Here they are...
...the proud candy artists and their masterpiece! Uh-oh...
...Molly looks like she's got something naughty in mind. Get her away from that gingerbread house!!

  1. Love it! My big girls have done a gingerbread house the last couple of years, but they weren't willing to share with L this year...selfish girls! We'll get that fixed next year :)
