The Soccer Chronicles: Whose Kid is That Anyway?

Molly was so excited Tuesday evening to go to her first soccer game...and to get to wear her yellow uniform and the awesome hair bow Meggie made for her. (I was surprised when I saw her in uniform...my good friend from Church, Judy, and her husband are the team sponsors!)

Molly started off okay...
...hanging out with the team just before warmups. However, when the team all took off running in the game...
...Molly stood alone. She just looked at them as if to say, "Why are you all in such a hurry?" Then she decided...
...to clown around. What, you can't see Molly in that picture?
There's a zoomed in shot of it. She's just hanging her head for no apparent reason...
...then pretending to look off into the clear, blue yonder...
...then sitting down in the middle of the action. When she occasionally took part in the action and ran with the team...
...she had to wave to her many fans on the way past. At one point in the game, she assumed this position...
...and we weren't sure what she was doing there. It was at about this point that Meggie pulled Molly aside and took away her hair bow. (When Meggie is in charge, taking Molly's bow away is the worst punishment she can dole out.) Meggie thought this might help Molly focus more on soccer. Meggie was wrong.

Remember how Molly laid on a blanket at Carson's game, coloring quietly and cheering for her big brother? Carson did not return the favor. He was driving everybody so crazy (oh, admit it, Grandma...he was bugging you, too), that I challenged him to exercise to fill the time...and to wear him out. He cracked everyone up around us as he...
...did sit-ups...
...push-ups...
...and ran laps until he was tired. Without her bow...
...Molly continued to goof around and pay little to no attention to the game. At one point, Coach Jay picked her up under her arms and carried her over to the pack...the crowd loved it! We were mortified.

Just like Carson...
...Molly enjoyed the end-of-game tunnel-of-fans. After getting her snack...
...and a quick picture with Carson (Meggie had already left to go to dance rehearsal), we tried to quickly escape as we hid our heads in shame. Our goofy Littles, however...
...definitely slowed down Daddy's progress to the truck.

It is going to be a L-O-N-G soccer season...

  2. What a hoot!! Love it! Of course I am the queen of "sports are for watching", when most other people think you should work hard and give it your all. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! Molly, you're a dolly!

  3. Oh that SO reminds me of Anna Grace! I finally gave up and stopped going to soccer! She would spend the whole time doing whatever she wanted to do....but nothing the coach wanted her to do. We'll try again this fall. =)
