Friday Night Football!

So you don't think all we do as a family is pose for professional photo shoots, my next few posts will actually highlight some fun activities we've had over the past couple of weeks.

Two weeks ago, the high school Meggie attends invited some local pee-wee football teams to attend a Friday night game, have their names announced over the loud speaker, and then form the tunnel through which the football team entered the field for the game. Carson was stoked! He loves football...and the opportunity to actually "hang out" with the big guys who play was amazing to him. (Truth be told, there was no "hanging out"...the high school team barely looked at the pee-wee football players. Carson didn't notice.)

When the girls and I arrived at the field, the boys were with the team, waiting to line up for their big entrance.
We ran around to the other side of the field so we could get a good picture as they paraded around the track during the team announcements. Here comes Team 20!
I think those tiny cheerleaders are so stinkin' cute! Molly refuses to be a cheerleader. Whenever I bring it up, she says, "No, they have to sweat too much. I'll just do Chinese dance." That's my girl!

Since the sun was blazing in my face, I could barely tell where I was pointing the camera. Luckily, I was able to catch Carson as he waved at us...
...but only got the front half of Daddy bringing up the rear of the line. Sorry, dear!

Luckily for us, Meggie's high school was playing a team from our old neighborhood...and Lauren (Meggie's best friend since second grade) is one of their cheerleaders! (Lauren's brother, Kyle, is also on the football team, but I never got his picture. Sorry, Kyle!) We were so excited to get to hang out with Kyle and Lauren's parents (Hi, Missy and Tim!) that we actually sat on their side of the field. What did we care that we were in enemy territory? We talked and laughed through the whole game.

The visiting team's mascot is a large red cardinal. Carson and Molly were amazed at that big bird and just HAD to meet it! Good thing we had connections! Lauren got 'em onto the track...
...and they were positively giddy to get their picture taken with "Mr. Birdie" (as Molly called him). Then I got a quick picture of Lauren with the kids...
...and I only just noticed that I didn't take a single picture of Meggie the whole night! Sorry, Megster! (Here's an interesting tidbit: we were driving Lauren home from a visit with us when CCAI called to ask us to look at Molly's file. So, she knew about Molly before anyone else!)

Molly LOVED the whole experience. She thought the marching bands were so impressive (she loved their uniforms and how much noise they made!) and kept thanking me for bringing her to the game and telling me how awesome everything was. Carson enjoyed parading in the beginning, but then got bored quickly. In fact, he got so sleepy that Daddy left the game early to take him home to bed!

Molly wasn't going anywhere! Missy has the sweetest heart for kids and just spoils my kids totally rotten every chance she gets. Molly just curled up in Missy's lap...
...and tried to nap. (We found out at the end of the game she was totally faking us out, but at least when she was pretending to sleep she wasn't complaining!) The only thing that woke her...
...was the chance to wear Lauren's big, gaudy cheerleader bow!

What a fun family night!
