Family Fun Dinner!

As a Board member of our local FCC group, I took part in a brainstorming session in September where we discussed ways to get our member families more involved. One suggestion (which was actually my idea) was to arrange small, informal, monthly gatherings. My friend and fellow Board member, Felicia, took that idea and ran with it. She arranged the first gathering -- dinner at a local Chinese restaurant -- for this past Sunday evening.

I was so excited when we arrived to see there was already a crowd. All in all, there were 10 or 11 families in attendance at the dinner! Felicia's daughter brought her crayons and markers and a ton of coloring pages and coloring books to share -- the kids had a blast! The food was fabulous and it was nice to get to mingle with families we haven't had a chance to meet at the bigger annual gatherings (Chinese New Year and Autumn Moon Festival).

Some of the adults were using chopsticks and the Littles were dying to try it, too. I was amazed at how quickly Molly mastered chopsticks......and she promises she never used them in China. (She actually gets aggravated talking about that topic...she says they treated her like a baby in China and made her use "baby spoons and baby cups.") As Molly happily got more food to keep working on her chopsticks skills, Carson was getting very frustrated that he couldn't make his work. We tried to assure him that it was OK, since his hands are a little different than Molly's hands. His frustration didn't last long...
...as our determined Little Man figured out his own way to make it work!

Can't wait to see what fun next month's gathering brings!

  1. How cute! My girlies can't use chopsticks unless they are rubber banded together. =)

I love how you have a local group that gets together. We did for a while but it's kind of fallen apart. Oh well.
